This year the European Certified LabVIEW Architects Summit (CLA Summit) took place in the heart of Central Europe in Krakow, Poland. National Instruments’ annual event enables LabVIEW Architects to give and listen to presentations, to learn about new products and to mingle with like-minded people.

Motivation
There are various definitions of success, and the ones I like revolve around the topic of happiness. Having fun doesn’t hurt, no matter the situation! And work should be fun: We stand up for what’s fun, we enjoy what’s fun, and we do stuff well if it’s fun. And without even noticing, motivation sneaked up and made us do our work better. And I love better!

Usually, LabVIEW stores the compiled code used to run a VI together with the graphical code of the VI in the same file. LabVIEW automatically recompiles all changed VIs together with all callers, modifying a lot more files than were actually touched. Your SCC won’t like that! Luckily, there’s an option to separate the compiled code from the graphical source code.

Read more »VI Scripting: Add Glyph to VI Icon
Using LabVIEW’s VI Scripting features, it is surprisingly easy to create tools that increase development efficiency and enforce coding guidelines. For example, having groups of associated VIs stand out on your block diagrams makes maintenance a lot easier. VI Scripting allows you to add glyphs to VI icons programmatically with very little overhead.

The third meeting of the Würzburg LabVIEW User Group (WUELUG) took place on Monday 15th of October. As the group has already outgrown our office, we took to a conference room in our premises. Presentations, food – and lots of ideas for the next meetings!
