LabVIEW Tip of the Day 2024-06-13:

NI President: "We are the LabVIEW Company!"

Incredible news, LabVIEW enthusiasts! NI is doubling down on its commitment to LabVIEW with a renewed focus on community and open-source initiatives. In a recent interview with EE World, Ritu Favre speaks about the significant steps being taken to enhance and grow this powerful tool.

“LabVIEW is an incredible product that has a very, very loyal set of followers. My intention is to continue to increase that community,” says NI’s President, Ritu Favre, expressing a strong dedication to LabVIEW and its loyal user base.

National Instruments, now rebranded as NI and part of Emerson, has a storied history in test and measurement, especially known for LabVIEW’s graphical programming. NI has been a cornerstone in this field since its founding in 1976 by Dr. James Truchard. Under the current leadership of Eric Starkloff, NI is focusing on revitalizing its product roots and ecosystem partnerships.

Favre highlighted the company’s strategy: “We can’t grow the way we want without that entire ecosystem. LabVIEW is integral to that. We’re continuing to invest in putting our energy into features and feedback on LabVIEW.” This includes significant efforts towards open source, allowing the community to play a pivotal role in LabVIEW’s evolution. “A lot of what we’re doing now is listening to the community. [...] We have some efforts to go open source to have the community help us with LabVIEW.”

This commitment to open-source development and community engagement signals an exciting future for LabVIEW users. By integrating feedback and fostering collaboration, NI aims to enhance the LabVIEW experience, making it even more powerful and user-friendly.
