With LabVIEW 2024Q1 comes a new feature that allows you to edit code in previous versions. No more juggling multiple VMs for different LabVIEW versions. Trust us, this will make your lives easier.
2024Q1 let’s you streamline your workflow by consolidating all your VMs from LV17 to LV24 into one. This not only reduces clutter but also simplifies your workspace. Plus, it also ensures that your base version of reuse libraries remains intact while you seamlessly access the latest LabVIEW features. With this setup, it’s the best of both worlds. You can take advantage of the newest LabVIEW functionalities, even when working on projects maintained in older versions.
Note that this Preview Feature is not a fully-supported feature of LabVIEW 2024 Q1 and is Beta quality. Also, be aware that for building applications, you will still need the explicit LabVIEW version. You cannot build a LV 2017 application with LV 2024.
Are you ready to give it a try, though? Here's how:
- In the LabVIEW .ini file, add the line: FeatureToggle.Editor.ProjectSaveVersion=True
- Ensure that VIs enable the property “Separate compiled code from source file” (found in VI Properties > General) for this feature to take effect
